Scottish Actor Ewan McGregor is showing huge guns ahead of Obi-Wan Kenobi, He’s been training with Tony Horton to get those lightsaber-wielding arms jacked.
We’re still a long way off from seeing the Star Wars spinoff series Obi-Wan Kenobi, but leading man Ewan McGregor is certainly making the most of the COVID-induced filming hiatus.
The actor, who is reprising the role he played in three prequel movies from 1999 to 2005, has been busy getting in shape for the new Disney+ show, as evidenced by a recent Instagram photo posted by his trainer Tony Horton which shows him flexing his biceps and showing off his arm gains.
“It seems that this Scottish fellow is starting to lean up and slim down,” Horton wrote in the caption for the post. “He hasn’t missed a day, and his diet has been spot on. This was day 16.”
Of course, Obi-Wan Kenobi is not a name you might associate with jacked muscles, having first been portrayed by veteran thespian Alec Guinness. But while McGregor was not shown to be particularly muscular as the younger Obi-Wan in The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith (or at least, not visibly so), it stands to reason that he would have had to have been extremely fit for those movies’ extensive stunt work—even if his physique wasobscured by those bulky Jedi robes.
If anything, this new project is going to be even more physically demanding. Not only has it now become the norm for all Hollywood actors to get ripped for roles, but action sequences have become a lot more intense and elaborate in the last 15 years. And with The Mandalorian‘s action-savvy director Deborah Chowhelming the entire Obi-Wan series, we can expect McGregor to be rolling up those baggy sleeves and flexing his Jedi Master muscles with some epic lightsaber battles.
In 2020, the actor and Charley Boorman journey to glorious landscapes across South and Central America on the backs of prototype electric Harley-Davidsons in the third series of the epic motorcycle adventure saga.
