The highly anticipated action-comedy film, The Fall Guy, starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, has taken the entertainment world by storm. Not only does it pay homage to the often-unsung heroes of Hollywood – the stunt community – but it also features a star-studded team that’s as passionate about their craft as they are dedicated to delivering breathtaking action sequences.
For Men’s Health’s exclusive cover shoot, director David Leitch and lead actor Ryan Gosling reunited with key members of The Fall Guy’s stunt team: stunt designer Chris O’Hara, stunt driver Logan Holladay, and Gosling’s stunt double, Ben Jenkins. Shot on the iconic Universal lot, just a stone’s throw away from famous sets like “Courthouse Square,” the atmosphere was electric.
During the shoot, the team reminisced about their time on set and shared anecdotes about the film’s unforgettable stunts. The most memorable, perhaps, being Holladay’s cannon roll stunt, which earned him a Guinness World Record for performing eight-and-a-half rolls on a beach in Australia.
Jenkins, a parkour expert, took over for Gosling in several adrenaline-pumping scenes, including one where his character gets hit by a car. His secret? “Keep your hips high and the weight off your feet, and let the impact throw you.”
The cover shoot also featured pyrotechnics and VFX makeup to recreate the film’s thrilling action sequences, including a fiery stunt involving a Gosling mannequin paying homage to Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here album cover. Despite the intense visuals, no actors were harmed during the shoot, thanks to the expertise of the stunt team.
The Fall Guy is more than just a wildly entertaining action movie – it’s a testament to the dedication and talent of Hollywood’s stunt community. Director David Leitch’s passion for the craft is evident in every frame, and his commitment to showcasing the hard work and talent of these professionals is commendable.
As the film continues to generate buzz, fans eagerly await its release, excited to see the incredible stunts and captivating performances brought to life by the film’s all-star team.
