Jared Leto An Artist With a Thousand Facets for GQ France May 2023

With a sixth album approaching, Jared Leto writes a new page with his group 30 Seconds to Mars. Exclusive interview with an artist with a thousand facets.

Jared Leto (30 Seconds to Mars): “We never thought of releasing a first album, so finishing the sixth is crazy”

Jared Leto arrives at the studio looked to the tip of his nails, accessorized and jeweled. His eye-equined eyes probably hide his fatigue, because we are in the middle of Paris Fashion Week, the privileged playground of stars in album or film promotion. Like many celebrities, he understands the influence of fashion and the evocative power of clothing. During Alessandro Michele’s reign at Gucci, he assumed the role of muse for the creator whose phantasmagorical universe he understood, sometimes inarrable as during their joint appearance on the red carpet at last year’s Met Gala, disguised as twins.

From the outset, the actor/singer/musician/producer/director assures us that he trusts the creative process, a rare attitude that too surrounded celebrities do not engage in with ease. For hours, we make him up, ask him to make faces, gesticulate and express all the emotions he has in him because he has just completed his group’s last album, 30 Seconds to Mars, whose co-founder and drummer is none other than his brother Shannon Leto. He also takes advantage of his stopover in Paris to make the music video for “Stuck”, the first single of the album. We met again to talk about music, fashion and photography.
