Premium UK online sports and outdoor gear retailer Sportsshoes, com has formed a new retail partnership with international outdoor clothing brand Patagonia.
California-based Patagonia makes clothing and gear for what the company calls ‘silent sports’, namely climbing, hiking, surfing, skiing, snowboarding, fly fishing and trail running.
The new range now available includes men’s and women’s clothing and accessories from Patagonia’s Hike and Trail Collections.
The Patagonia Story
Founded in 1973 by Yvon Chouinard, Patagonia was forged on the big walls of Fitzroy, the powder of Jackson Hole, and the surf of Peahi. Guided by Yvon’s design philosophy of simplicity, Patagonia builds innovative outdoor clothing which is rigorously tested in the field by ambassadors and staff to ensure it’s got you covered.
Patagonia’s industry leading supply chain transparency, Fair Trade Certification and a commitment to supporting Environmental Grassroots Activism means your Patagonia piece seeks to cause no unnecessary harm. Brand initiatives such as the Iron Clad Guarantee and Worn Wear keep clothing and gear in play for longer, thereby reducing its footprint and making sure you’re back ready for the next run. Patagonia is in business to save our home planet, whilst providing the gear to help enjoy what it has to offer.
Sportsshoes.com MD Brett Bannister, said: “As a business, we share many of Patagonia’s principles. It is an exemplar brand when it comes to reducing the impact that the apparel retail supply chain has on the environment. We want to follow its lead in implementing long-term sustainable practices across everything we do.”
He stressed the retailer’s ambitious objective of becoming the most sustainable running equipment retailer in the world and how its customers are also looking for brands that share those values.
Established in 1982, the retailer’s turnover is approaching £100 million. It carries 149 global running and outdoor brands including Asics, Nike, Adidas, Hoka, New Balance, Haglöfs, Mammut and Rab.
